1. Provide engaging learning materials
2. Focus on developing one skill at a time
3. Understand your child’s interests
4. Guide, direct and be consistent
5. Have the right expectations depending on your child’s age, developmental stage, personal abilities and the consistency with which you provide knowledge based on the skill you aim to teach.
While doing all this remember to break huge tasks into small chunks.
I bet you if I told the kids to write the day, date, month, year, and how the weather looked they would have told me “mummy, that’s a lot” so what I did was give one word at a time and as they felt proud with each task they completed they wanted more.
I could go on cause there are so many tips to share but start with the ones above, be consistent and see how it goes.
