Hello, Healthy Smart Moms, For kids under 5 years old, it’s important to assign age-appropriate chores that are simple and safe. Here are five categories of chores that young children can do, with some common examples
👉1. Cleaning up toys:
– Putting away toys in a designated box when done playing.
– Gathering puzzle pieces and placing them in a puzzle box.
 
This teaches them to keep their environment clean
 
👉2. Setting the table:
– Assisting in placing non-breakable dishes on the table.
-Taking their plate to the kitchen after meal
-Wipping the table after meals
 
👉3. Kitchen chores:
-peeling seasoning cubes or garlic.
-Or handing vegetables and fruits to you while you cook
-Washing their little plates under supervision
 
 
👉4. Making the bed:
– Straightening pillows
– Pulling up the sheets and blankets.
 
 
👉5. Watering plants:
– Using a small watering can to water indoor plants (under supervision).
– Picking leaves or papers around the compound
Remember to provide clear instructions, break tasks down into smaller steps, and offer lots of praise and encouragement. It’s important to ensure the tasks are safe and appropriate for the child’s developmental stage and not just age.
